Kathryn Murphy, LICSW

Equine Facilitated Psychotherapist

Kathryn (Katie) Murphy Gordon is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Massachusetts. A life long horsewoman and equestrian, she brings equine interaction into her therapeutic work as a means of interactive and nature based psychotherapy. Katie believes in the healing power of horses and nature, and the profound transformation that can happen when immersed in farm life.

Education

2015 - 2018

Simmons University

Katie earned her Masters of Social Work from Simmons University in Boston, MA. Katie thoroughly enjoyed her time at Simmons and forged many connections, both personal and professional during her time there. Katie's field work incorporated in-home and community based work as well as equine facilitated work for children impacted by complex trauma. 

2009 - 2012

Wheaton College, MA

Katie graduated from Wheaton College (MA) in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology. Katie centered her college thesis work around the benefits of community involvement in natural and historic land conservation. Her research highlighted the importance of connection to natural spaces when looking at community health outcomes. She continues to draw on this in her present day work as an equine facilitated/nature based psychotherapist.
